東京芸術大学音楽学部声楽科を卒業、同大学大学院音楽研究科修士課程を音楽教育専攻にて修了。
これまで声楽を大島博、高丈二、福島明也、故長町順史、小森輝彦の各氏に師事。
大学在学中は芸大バッハカンタータクラブに在籍し、小林道夫氏からバロック音楽の薫陶を受ける。
2011年・2012年、サントリーホールオペラ・アカデミーにおいて、ジュゼッペ・サバティーニ氏のマスタークラスに参加。
2015年、シュトゥットガルトにてディートリヒ・ヘンシェル、ヘルムート・ドイチュら各氏のマスタークラスを修了。
オペラでは、モーツァルト「フィガロの結婚」フィガロ、「ドン・ジョヴァンニ」レポレロ、「コジ・ファン・トゥッテ」グリエルモ、ドン・アルフォンソ、「魔笛」パパゲーノなど、主要なバス、バリトンのロールを演じる他、ヴェルディ、プッチーニ、ビゼーなどのオペラ作品に出演し、その精緻な役作りに定評がある。
宗教曲の分野では、バッハの教会カンタータ諸作品、「マタイ受難曲」、ヘンデル「メサイア」、ハイドン「ハルモニウム・ミサ」、モーツァルト「レクイエム」、「大ミサ」などでソリストとして出演する。
Jun Shiraiwa is a baritone singer of opera and classical music. He is currently a lecturer at the Yamaguchi University, member of Tokyo Nikikai, member of Japanisch-Deutsche Liedergesellschaft, and member of Koseikai.
Shiraiwa graduated from the Department of Vocal Music, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, and completed Master's degree in Music Education at the same school.
He learned vocal music under Hiroshi Oshima, Joji Ko, Akiya Fukushima, late Junji Nagamachi, and Teruhiko Komori.
Shiraiwa joined the Bach Cantata Club while at the university where he further received the tutelage of Michio Kobayashi on Baroque music.
In 2011 and 2012, he attended "Giuseppe Sabbatini Open Master Class for Singers" as part of the Suntory Hall Opera Academy.
In 2015, Shiraiwa attended master classes given by Dietrich Henschel, Helmut Deutsch and others in Stuttgart, Germany.
In opera, he has a reputation for elaborating and perfecting his role as he has played leading bass and baritone roles such as Figaro in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro," Leporello in 'Don Giovanni', Guglielmo in "Così fan tutte," Don Alfonso, and Papageno in 'Die Zauberflöte', as well as having performed in operas by Verdi, Puccini, Bize and other composers.
In the field of religious music, Shiraiwa has been featured as a soloist in Bach's church cantatas, "Matthäus-Passion," Handel's "Messiah," Haydn's "Harmonium Messe," Mozart's "Requiem," "Große Messe" and others.
He has been selected for a number of competitions including the 16th Japan Mozart Music Competition, the 26th Japan-German Song Competition in which he received the Audience Award, as well as the 35th Iizuka Rookie Music Competition.
